Lock up your piece of Duke history today

PURCHASE “WORTHY CHAMPIONS”

The 2009-10 season was one that will bring smiles to the faces of Duke Basketball fans forever.  From the season-opening Countdown to Craziness to the Final Four in Indianapolis, the Blue Devils took all Duke fans on an extraordinary ride culminating with the school’s fourth national championship.

Duke Blue Planet has published a special commemorative book celebrating the 2010 National Champions and their inspiring journey in this 212-page special edition, entitled “Worthy Champions: How Order Was Restored in the College Basketball Universe.”  The soft-bound book covers the entire season with more than 800 images and content produced by Duke Basketball players, coaches and staff members.   The publication is available for $20.00 and sold exclusively by Duke Stores.

Highlights of “Worthy Champions” include:

Contributions from 2010 Final Four Most Outstanding Player Kyle Singler
Duke fans saw Kyle show uncommon creativity on the court all season long, and in “Worthy Champions” the national champion reveals his creative side off the court.   The Oregon native designed the book’s inside cover, wrote the foreword and produced several unique graphics.

Insight from Duke’s Own Jay Bilas
Duke graduate Jay Bilas ‘86, a college basketball analyst for ESPN, followed Duke all year long.   In “Worthy Champions,” Jay talks about the team’s toughness and how the hard-nosed Blue Devils won games by doing the little things and playing unselfishly.

Power in the Paint — By Associate Head Coach Steve Wojciechowski
Duke’s big men — Brian Zoubek, Lance Thomas, Miles Plumlee and Mason Plumlee — were the heart and soul of the team.   Coach Wojciechowski, who worked with the big men every day in practice, shares his thoughts on the strength, rebounding and defense the group added to the team.

The Ultimate Rise to the Prize — By Associate Head Coach Chris Collins
The “Big Three” of Jon Scheyer, Kyle Singler and Nolan Smith formed the country’s highest scoring trio and Andre Dawkins emerged on the scene a year early to provide key minutes in the backcourt.  In “Worthy Champions,” Coach Chris Collins discusses this Duke perimeter group and how their relentless pursuit of victory resulted in a season for the ages.

A Family Perspective
Coach K’s daughters Debbie Savarino and Jamie Spatola provide insightful articles that discuss the family atmosphere not only evident on this year’s team, but on the past 30 years of Duke Basketball.

In Their Shoes
In this section, various Blue Devil players talk about bringing the national championship back to Cameron.   In addition, the Cameron Crazies, the Duke team managers and even the Blue Devil mascot are represented.

Behind-the-Scenes Access
With a photographer at every game and major team event, “Worthy Champions” is able to offer a unique insiders’ point of view on the season’s best moments and turning points both on and off the court.

“Worthy Champions” is an engaging and entertaining addition to your coffee table, book shelf, or desk!  Order your piece of Duke history today!
