Coach K’s Comments
“I thought another huge play was after Henson hit two free throws making it 54-50. We came down, ran a set to get Jon open, he hit Brian and he gave Kyle an unbelievable pass for a layup. Jon made some huge plays for us; we shot 50% from three and about 20% from two. A lot of that has to do with the fact that when you have it close its tough to score against them. I thought they played really hard and well and it was a heck of a game. So we’re proud to win and thankful we came out on top.”
Locker Room Reaction
Jon: “You just need big plays, especially on the road. Coach said the whole game, ‘Don’t worry about missing shots. Just keep shooting,’ and that’s what we were going to do.”
Nolan: “We had the mentality that we were just going to keep attacking and not let anything faze us. It started with our defense. We were able to get some easy things off defense and offensive rebounding, and the guys just kept fighting.”
Sixth Man
Our Sixth Man was back in Cameron watching the game on the scoreboard and supporting the Blue Devils 10 miles away. There were a few Duke fans, including this one who left the Smith Center happy, sprinkled among the 20,000+ in attendance.
