Duke’s Brand

Posted by Dave Bradley under NBA Devils

Elton Brand looks back at his college decision and shares his thoughts on Coach K

Elton Brand is living the dream.  Since leaving Duke after his sophomore year, the New York native has been the top pick of the NBA Draft, has his own shoe deal, has earned close to $100 million in total salary (excluding endorsements), garnered two NBA All-Star selections, was chosen as the NBA’s Rookie of the Year, has been an All-NBA pick and is averaging 20 points and 10 boards over the course of his 11-year pro career.  It all started for EB in Peekskill, NY and continued at Duke.

In these interview clips from Stack TV, Elton talks about Coach K, his recruiting process, and his time at Duke…

“I chose Duke not just for the athletics but for the academics.  Playing for Coach K and playing in the national championship game, it was amazing and we had a great time.  If it wasn’t for financial reasons I would have stayed my full four years.  It instilled a lot of the work ethic that I have.  And being the No. 1 draft pick, it was a dream that came into fruition.  As a kid, you want to be in the NBA and play at the highest level so once I was drafted it was a special honor.” Elton Brand
