Cameron Indoor will have a slightly different look this season.  The seats are currently being painted Duke Blue after a thorough cleaning and power-washing of the upstairs sections, Coach K Court is getting re-finished, and further minor cosmetic improvements are in the works.  This season, Cameron celebrates its 70th year as the home of Duke Basketball.  You probably won’t be able to notice the differences on TV since all of our seats have been filled since 1990 by way of basketball’s longest sell-out streak, so here are some recent photos…

Former Blue Devil Shelden Williams has agreed to a one-year deal with the Boston Celtics worth $1.306 million.  Shelden averaged 4.1 points and 3.4 rebounds in 45 games in a reserve role with Minnesota and Sacramento last year, and will provide size and strength for one of the NBA’s best squads next year.  The signing continues an exciting off-season for Duke’s all-time leader in rebounds and blocks, as Shelden’s wife Candace Parker gave birth to the couple’s first child (Lailaa) in May.

Sporting News‘ August 3rd issue asked top coaches and media across all major sports to rank the best coaches all-time.  Coming in at No. 19 in the magazine’s top 50 greatest coaches in history was Coach K.  Among active coaches, the Duke Hall of Famer came in at No. 4, behind only Phil Jackson, Pat Summitt and Joe Paterno.  Among active coaches in men’s college hoops, the Blue Devil boss was the only coach to crack the top 50.  Below is the Coach K excerpt from the magazine with a story from Shane Battier…
