Freshman Mason Plumlee is getting settled on campus with the rest of Duke’s class of 2013 after orientation this past week. He recently took a break to discuss a range of topics, from his game, to why he chose to Duke, to his brother’s juggling skills.

Give our fans the scouting report — What can they expect from your game? What do you like to do out on the court? I like to play an up-and-down game. Get up and down the floor. Play inside out. I like playing with good players, and just getting up and down and running with people. I play my best with the ball in my hands. My favorite thing to do on a basketball court is to dunk on somebody.
d
Why did you choose Duke? I came to Duke because it was close to my high school and I just wanted to play for Coach K.
d
What’s your favorite thing about Coach K? What most stands out about him? Our relationship off the court and how he cares so much about you off the court.
d
What has been your reaction to Coach K serving as the U.S. National Head Coach? It’s just really interesting to talk to him about some of the best players in the world and his views on how they work and how they play together as a team. it’s hard for a lot of coaches to bring that much talent together but he did such a good job and it’s really interesting to talk to him about that stuff.
d
Tell our fans something about your brother Miles that they might not know? Miles is a very complex character. He used to unicycle, juggle and play the trumpet. He’s got various talents that are kind of unknown.
d
Any talents that Miles has that you wish you had and vice versa? Miles is better at video games. I think Miles probably finishes better around the rim because he can really jump. I’m far better than Miles at driving.
d
With the same last name and the same first initial, what will you guys do on the back of your uniform? Have you figured that out? I think we’re just going to have our last names so hopefully they’ll be able to tell we’re not twins. Coach Collins asked when ordering the jerseys and I think we’re just doing Plumlee.
d
How is your relationship with the upperclassmen on the team so far? Have they taken you under their wing, given you the rookie treatment or a little bit of both? Oh no, I’ve kind of taken them under my wing. They’ve been real good to us. Jon let me stay with them for a little bit. They’ve been really good.
d
What type of music would we find on your iPod? Any songs you like to listen to before playing a game? Lil Wayne… Before a game I like to listen to music for sure. Maybe “Man in the Mirror” by Michael Jackson and “Can’t Be Touched” by Roy Jones, Jr.
