SportsBusiness Journal‘s annual readers survey recently ranked Coach K as the second-most powerful person in college sports with 18% of the vote. Topping the ranking was NCAA President Myles Brand and conference commissioners Mike Slive (SEC), and Jim Delaney (Big Ten) were ranked third and fourth respectively. Voters included experienced sports leaders, executives, administrators and businesspeople from all over the nation.

A recently-released ESPN survey of college hoops fans all over America has found Duke to be America’s favorite men’s college basketball team, edging out North Carolina and UCLA for the top spot. The Blue Devils held the top spot last year as well.

Duke, ACC Up to the Challenge X 10

For the 10th time in as many years, the ACC claimed the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, winning six of their 11 games against Big Ten foes. All 11 of the event’s matchups were televised on an ESPN network as the ACC continued its dominance over the Big Ten.
Duke, the lone program to win each year of the Challenge, leads an event that features conferences that have combined to win 625 NCAA Tournament games all-time. Since 1988, the powerhouse leagues have combined for eight NCAA titles and 36 of a possible 84 Final Four appearances.
