Junior Greg Paulus has earned CoSIDA Academic All-America recognition as announced Monday on ESPNU.  The New York native has a 3.31 GPA at Duke while majoring in political science, pursuing a certificate in markets and management, and playing college basketball at the highest level.  This past semester Greg enjoyed unbelievable success, boasting a 3.94 GPA and earning a spot on the Dean’s List with Distinction by finishing among the top 10 percent in his class.

Balancing the “student” and “athlete” is a tough task and a unique opportunity for athletes at every college.  Greg has clearly met the challenge at a university that demands excellence on and off the playing field by taking great pride in everything he does, and working hard both under the bright lights of Cameron and when no one is watching.  The point guard is Duke’s 10th all-time player to earn Academic All-America recognition and the NCAA-best fourth Blue Devil selection since the 1997-98 season.

In order to be nominated for Academic All-America recognition, the student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve with a cumulative career GPA of at least 3.2.  All nominees must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing, and honorees are chosen by a CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) panel.
